Food Photography & Styling - Luisa Brimble

A food photography and styling workshops in the outer suburb of Sydney, Hornsby Heights. Young and unexperienced I travelled to Sydney from Hobart just to attend the workshop, with one of the most inspiring food photographers, Luisa Brimble. Situated in Hornsby was Sneh Roy's amazing residence consisted of a food photographer's dream location featuring vegetable gardens, chooks and a huge kitchen that opened up to the outdoor deck. The kitchen was the perfect location to bake and photograph in whether that was under one of the large farmhouse like windows or outside on the deck amongst the fresh produce. Arriving at the workshop all the way from small Hobart I felt quite out of my depth. Sooner than later I became introduced to amazing food bloggers, photographers and stylists. This workshop allowed me to not only meet the professional Brimble and Sneh but it gave me the opportunitiy to meet and become inspired by like minded people, who are in similar working or interested fields. The workshop focused on food photography and styling with a central focus on gathering, community and local producing. It was focused indoor and outdoor exploring the shift between controls and light that included both theory and practical sessions. I cannot emphasis enough how important workshops are for emerging artists and designers, not only do you become more knowledgable in the field but the connections you make are untraceable.
